St. Louis, Mo. (June 19, 2014) – AeroValve, which has designed a breakthrough advancement in valve technology for manufacturing, graduates today from Helix Center, becoming the first company launched by the biotech incubator.
“This is a dynamic company. I am really proud of how Vicki Gonzalez has grown it so quickly, said Denny Coleman, CEO of St. Louis Economic Development Partnership. “It’s also a great moment for Helix Center to see our very first client company launch out of this space and do so well.”
AeroValve, which moved into the Helix Center in August 2012 as the incubator’s first client, is transitioning to a 5,000 square foot facility in Brentwood. The larger space and more technical equipment will allow the company to move into its next phase of product development – namely rapid prototyping and low volume manufacturing.
“We are grateful to Helix Center for the critical programming and access to specialized lab space which enabled us to check off important milestones,” stated Vicki Gonzalez, AeroValve CEO. “And having our office located in such a top notch facility provided us with a high level of credibility with investors and market partners.”
“Additionally, we are appreciative to the Helix Fund which provided early funding which allowed us to leverage National Science Foundation (NSF) grants funds,” Gonzalez added.
AeroValve’s patented solenoid valve technology is a no hassle solution to reducing energy cost. The plug-n-play design recycles 20% - 30% of the compressed air used in pneumatic actuator applications. This translates to direct electricity savings and reduced compressor maintenance for the end-user. The company has successfully proven the technology and is now in a position to introduce the valves to the market beginning in 2015.
Helix Center opened its doors in the summer of 2012. It is now at capacity, home to 21 startups in the bio- and high-tech sectors; and is in the design phase to build out additional space.
